I Hate My Job!

Bored? Frustrated? Yearning for retirement? Feel as if you are in the same rut you have been in since forever? That is understandable in this day and age. Chances are you probably loathe your job at this point. Feel sure that you are not alone, and many people out there want to find purpose in their life. Like the song from Peggy Lee: Is that All There Is? You want more out of life. You want to really move forward and thrive, and feel good about what you do, and you maybe just thinking about a career change.

As with any change you will need to assess your likes and dislikes of your current job and/or career. Many people change jobs because of boredom, dislike of the job, don't like working for the man (boss), or the company. Ask yourself a deeper question. What do you like or dislike about your current position? Figure out what excites you and gives you energy. I bet you would say right here right now that nothing at the current place of employment neither excites or energizes.

1. So, what did you first like about your job that made you want to work there? In order to examine and figure out a new career we must assess the old one. So, think about it carefully. What are the things you do that you are good at, and yet will not give you job satisfaction?

2. What are the things at your current place of employment which you hate and despise? These tasks may be good, and you do them satisfactorily, but not necessarily like.

3. Now we get to the fun part of the assessment. What do you truly love to do? This task will give you energy, and provide a sense of fulfillment, and enthusiasm for a job well done.

We have just answered some of the hard questions in assessing where we have been, and where we feel energy. The next step will be to find your passion. This passion is either something that you love to do, or something you have done in your past, or could be even a hobby. The most important gift we can give to ourselves is learning how to assess where we are, and what are passions are, no matter how strange they may seem to everyone else.

There are many, many assessments out there to help you choose what career you would like, but how do you find what you really want to do. The passion inside you is the clue. Donny Deutsch state in the latest Success Magazine that to explore your passion is primary, but to go a little beyond your passions, and dig into your childhood. What did you like to do as a child? Did you like to build things? Did you like to create new fangled instruments and use tools? Maybe you even created new tools. What was it that you liked to do? Therein lies your passion, or an expression of your passion. With your passion found, then you will be able to add to that your likes and don't likes from your current job. All of these together will enable you to find a new career that you will truly enjoy.

There are examples after examples of people finding their passion, and creating a new career out of their likes and their passions. The trick for you is to believe in yourself that will enable you to become what you want your new career to be. Look closely at these answers. These answers will enable you to find your purpose.

To begin your dream job, I recommend you keep your day job as they say, and start creating your dream job, one step at a time. What I know is this: You have bills, and a family to take care of and provide for. You have insurance needs, and mortgage payments to keep up with. Tread slowly at first. Dip your feet into your passion slowly at first. Look around to see if anyone else is doing just that, and ask to become an apprentice. This way everyone benefits, the person you work for will get free labor, and you will find out if you truly like this new career. Use this new passion as a part time job. You can't have everything you want overnight, but you can take one step at a time.

Fed up in a rut, take these words to heart. Assess where you are in your current job/position. Look into the likes and don't likes from the job you have. Explore the skills of your tasks and find out which tasks give you energy, and which do not. By all means find your passion. If you find your passion, and you start working with it, your stress levels will decrease and your life experience will manifest into more joy.

Conversations With God

Chasing Your Dreams!

Friends, it is always a power of your dreams and a motive to move ahead, which is required to move ahead and to be successful in life. Does it sound, impractical; let me share with you, something practical and real.

Some real time facts:

1.Out of the first four stores F. W. Woolworth opened, three failed. When he died, he was worth more than $20 million.

2.Einstein was 4 years old before he could speak.

3.Isaac Newton did poorly in grade school and was considered "unpromising".

4.Beethoven's music teacher once said of him, "As a composer, he is hopeless".

5.Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team.

6.Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper because he "lacked imagination, and had no good ideas".

7.Thomas Edison's teacher told him he was too stupid to learn anything. Later, he tried 1,600 different materials before settling on carbon as the filament for the electric light bulb.

Some Themes

1) Victory Against Cancer

In October of 1996, Lance Armstrong, Americas greatest cyclist, received the news. He was hero both in USA and in other Countries. He was called the Golden Boy of American Cycling, and felt like nothing could stop him.

Something did. He was unable to finish a race in 1996 due to excruciating pain. He was rushed to hospital to find the cause.

THE NEWS
~
That month Lance underwent several tests, and the diagnosis was testicular cancer. The cancer had spread to his lungs and his brain. After undergoing three immediate surgeries, his chances for recovery were 50/50. The man, who had everything, was now hoping to have one thing, LIFE.

OVERCOMING OBSTACLES

With the support of his family and friends, and his unstoppable attitude, Armstrong started to improve. The chemotherapy started to work and he started to once again think about racing. Some thought he was crazy. He was battling cancer, how could he think about ever racing again.

TAKING ACTION

He did more than just thinking about it. He did it. Armstrong began training only five months after his diagnosis. He did not feel cursed, but lucky. He was given a new viewpoint on life. Armstrong realized how lucky of a man he really was.

Now that he beat cancer, Lance Armstrong took on the next biggest challenge, the Tour de Frances. Not only did he race well, he won.

Some were unsure if could survive cancer. He did. Some were unsure if he could train again. He did. Few thought he could win again. He did.

2) Amitabh Bhachan

Background: Born in the family of a schoolteacher. After his graduation, he joined some bank and started working there as a Clerk. Always wanted to be in entertainment industry (Radio, Television, Movies, Advertising etc) but was not aware of means and modes to enter into it.

He was informed that His voice is not soft and smooth something that people like to listen to. He continued with his strugglefor months and years. No production house was willing to sign him. No actress was willing to work with him. Got few movies but all flopped. Rejected and dejected he was all set to leave that city. Believe mehe was at railway stationboarding on the train on his way back to his hometown and there he met one producerwho immediately signed him for his next venturethat movie was super hit and hence, Amitabh Bhachanbecome an overnight success.

Struggle Continued: Though he becomes a Super Star but that was not an end of his struggle. In 1981he met with a fatal accident and he struggled with his deathfor his lifefor more than two weeks. There were other few small incidents he facedthat I can ignore at this point of time.

Last Struggle: Then, came 1996and he organized Miss World Contest in India. Show was goodbut he become bankrupt. No body was willing to get associated with him. People started considering him as a lost forcean old horsepeople thought that it is an end of his career. That was the time when for him each new day was worse than the previous one.

And Now: In 2000he bounced backprobably with more energymore passion and more dedication. As per the BBC ratingsin 2000they declared him as the Best Actor of the Centuryabove the likes of Jim CarreyCharlie Chaplin. Now, his voice is the one that everyone likes to listen to. His Motto: Believe in yourself and things will work for you.
His Strengths: Dont give-up, High Determination, Very Hardworking, Humble, a great learner and have passion for work.

3) The Dream Behind Wendys

As a young boy, Dave Thomas didnt have the easiest childhood. He was an adopted child, and was never able to meet his birth parents. The relationship he had with his adoptive father was difficult to say the least. This didnt stop the young Dave Thomas from dreaming. At the age of eight, he dreamed that one-day he would own the best restaurant in the world. Despite his surroundings, Dave Thomas had a dream, and knew it would be realized, someday.

PERSISTENCE

Through hard work and persistence, this young boy learned much about the restaurant business by working in them at a very young age. He was passionate about his goal, and worked diligently to assure its attainment. As opportunities presented themselves, Mr. Thomas jumped. He was able to start his own restaurant and take a giant step closer to his dream and that was the foundation of Wendys chain of Restaurants. This did not, how ever, come to him on a silver platter.

TAKING RISKS

Dave Thomas invested everything he had into the first Wendys restaurant, not knowing whether or not it would be successful. He could have lost it all, but that didnt stop him.

A DREAM REALIZED

Today, Wendys is a $3.5 billion dollar company, and Dave Thomas is a man who had a dream, and did everything possible to make it come true. A boy with a dream is a powerful thing. Add to this equation persistence and passion, and you have an unstoppable force.

4) They Said It Couldnt Be Done

They said it couldnt be done. Many scientists also agreed that it was physically impossible. No one could ever run the mile in less than four minutes. No one ever has, they said, and no one ever will. Roger Bannister must have been absent that day in class, because on May 6, 1954, he ran the mile in 3 minutes, 59.4 seconds.

This feat ended the worlds nine-year quest for the four-minute mile. After Bannisters sub four-minute mile, others also added their names to the list.

Once someone proved they could accomplish the impossible, others found they could also. Could this be happening today? Many people today can tell you this or that will never be done. They may even tell that your dream is impossible.

Roger Bannister proved them all wrong, and so can you.

5) Sonia Gandhi

Background: Born in Italy. Got married into the Indias Most Powerful FamilyThe Gandhis. She was never interested in politics. All she wanted was peaceful lifeaway from the glare of media and power. Probably, that is the reason that for most of the time, she used to stay out of Indiawith her family.

Destiny: But her destiny had something different in store for her. In 1984 her mother-in-law Late Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi got assassinatedfollowed by the assassination of her husband Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991. Her dreams crashedright in front of her. She had choicesto move out the countryor to stay out of Power Game.

New Dream: Till 1999, she stayed in self-imposed exile. And then joined CongressIndias Oldest Political Party. That time this party was not into powerthey were sitting in opposition. She saw a dream to get her partyback into the power. But it was not easy. Her own party members had doubt on her credibility. The opposition went on to call her as BitchDumb DollAnti NationalA woman who is planning to sell this country they were not ready to accept herand what not.

Reaching the Goal: In 2004she single handedly won General Elections for her party. And she was unanimously elected as the leader of the party and hence Prime Minister of the Country. As per the list announced by Forbes last Week, Sonia Gandhi is worlds 13th Most powerful Woman.

Her Motto: Dont give any chance to others to point their fingers at you

Her Strength: Approachable, Connectivity with people at lower level, A great strategist and planner.

6) Successful people do it in spite of, and not in absence of, problems.

FACTS

Wilma Rudolph was born into a poor home in Tennessee. At age four, she had double pneumonia with scarlet fever, a deadly combination, which left her paralyzed with polio. She had to wear a brace and the doctor said she would never put her foot on the earth.

DREAM

But her mother encouraged her; she told Wilma that with God-given ability, persistence and faith she could do anything she wanted. Wilma said, I want to be the fastest women on the track on this earth. At the age of nine, against the advice of doctors, she removed the brace and took the first step the doctors had said she never would. At the age of 13, she entered her first race and came way, way last. And then she entered her second, and third and fourth and came way, way last until a day came when she came in first.

HARD WORK

At the age of 15 she went to Tennessee State University where she met coach by name Ed Temple. She told him, I want to be the fastest women on the track on this earth. Temple said, with your spirit nobody can stop you and besides, I will help you.

REALIZATION OF DREAM

The day came when she was at the Olympics and at the Olympics you are matched with the best of the best. Wilma was matched against a woman named Jutta Heine who had never been beaten.

The first event was the 100 meter race. Wilma beat Jutta Heine and won her first gold medal.

The second event was the 200-meter race and Wilma beat Jutta a second time and won her second gold medal.

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE GOAL

The third event was the 400-meter relay and she was racing against Jutta one more time. In the relay, the fastest person always runs the last lap and they both anchored their teams. The first three people ran and changed the baton easily. When it came to Wilmas turn, she dropped the baton. But Wilma saw Jutta shoot up at the other end; she picked the baton, ran like a machine, beat Jutta a third time and won her third gold medal. It became history: that paralytic women become the fastest women on the earth at the 1960 Rome Olympics.

This story teaches us that successful people do it in spite of, not in absence of, problems.

Conclusion

At the beginning, everything appears to be impossible, but those who are dare enough and bold enough to take that first step, they have done well in their career as well as in life. It is very easy to put blame on external factors. I can only say, life your life, as if it is your last day and work or do things, in a manner as if the whole world is watching you.

I will be looking forward to your comments and feedback.

Have a great time and a fantastic week ahead and yes, pleaseee, pleaseees do take care of your good self.

Power Of Myth

Spiritual Healing

Spiritual healing is the oldest type of healing known to humanity. There has always been some form of spiritual healing available in all tribes and societies: our own Druid tradition of healing and spirituality, the North American Medicine man, the wise men and women who occupied a special place in every tribe, helping to heal the sick through the power of the spirit, and to guide the tribe in times of crises, and in matters of life and death. Due to many people's disillusionment with traditional religions there has been a huge upsurge in interest in the whole area of spirituality in recent years.

Spirituality in its broadest sense concerns the exploration, the awareness and the integration of spirit with our other physical, mental and emotional sides to create balance, harmony, wholeness and meaning in our lives. Spirit is that part of ourselves which is eternal and unique to each individual. Yet spiritually we are connected to all other life forms in a transpersonal way, each being a vital part of the whole. People who wish to explore their personal spirituality need not have any specific beliefs, as the spiritual experience can be viewed humanistically - as the link between all earth-life, between the whole of nature, animals and human beings.

What is Spiritual healing?

Spiritual healing is the channelling of healing energies through the healer to the patient. It re-energies and relaxes patients to enable their own natural resources to deal with illness or injury in the best possible way. By directing energy, usually through the hands, the healer seeks to supplement the depleted energy of the recipient, releasing the body's own healing abilities to deal with the problem in the most effective way for that individual. The healer asks for healing to be channelled from Spirit, God, the highest level of light. Unlike faith healing, it is not required that the patient have faith in the healer or in the healing process in order for healing to take place.

Benefits of Spiritual healing

Spiritual healing can be beneficial for anyone who feels that they lack harmony of body, mind or spirit. It can be given for any illness, stress or injury. There are no conditions placed on the type of healing which the patient may require: the Spirit of the patient gets exactly the kind of healing it needs to distribute to the mind or body it occupies. Healing always takes place in the manner in which it is needed. It can be helpful in a wide range of physical and psychological conditions, sometimes to a remarkable degree: the medically diagnosed nature of the illness appears to be irrelevant to the outcome, and case histories range from the relieving of everyday stresses and strains to the recovery of people who had been previously medically diagnosed as being terminally ill. In all these cases spiritual healing seems to have made a vital contribution to the patient's recovery.

Spiritual healing has no side effects and is complimentary to any other therapy. It is completely non-intrusive as there is no touch used by the healer. The healer's hands are raised about a foot from the patient's body while the patient is sitting comfortably during the channelling of healing.

Absent Healing

Any person who asks for spiritual healing will receive it. If the healing is requested by one person for another, then the healing chain is set in motion between the person who requested it, the person who it is requested for and Spirit. The person does not have to attend for Spiritual healing in this instance. Each person's name who requires healing is written in a special book, kept specifically for this purpose. Periodically the healer can read each new name entered in the book and ask Spirit to grant this person spiritual healing. Each person is kept on the absent healing list for one month. Whatever healing is required then takes place. There have been many recorded cases of miraculous healing taking place using absent healing, even when the recipient of spiritual healing was not aware that healing had been requested for him/her.

What does Spiritual healing feel like for the recipient?

Many people say that they experience some of the following sensations during spiritual healing: heat, cold, tingly feelings, the feeling of being really taken care of, a feeling of expansion and a new awareness of their spiritual being. Sometimes the recipient doesn't feel anything in particular, just a sense of deep relaxation and peace. It is recommended that a person attend for spiritual healing at least three times, with approximately one week between each session, to maximise the benefits of spiritual healing. I can still vividly remember my own first experience of spiritual healing, some six years ago. One of my friends had recommended that I try it but I was quite sceptical and needed a lot of persuading to try it. I remember sitting in the healing chair in the Irish Spiritual Centre, feeling this amazing feeling of love and expansion, as though I was literally radiating a brilliant beautiful energy. Spiritual healing is still my own favourite form of healing when I feel in need of a real boost of energy: six years later I'm still at the centre, but now working as a Spiritual healer.

Interesting Facts About the Archangels

The first fact that amazed me about the archangels is that there are 15 of them. I have always considered myself a spiritual, and in my younger days, religious person. However, I had no idea that there were so many archangels. We all know about Michael, Gabriel and Rafael, but there are twelve more. This intrigued me so much that I did a little bit or research and I would like to tell you a little bit about each one of them.

Ariel - whose name means "Lion or lioness of God." She is associated with healing and protecting beings in nature and that includes the animals, fish and birds. Ariel is considered the Patron Angel of Wild Animals.

Azrael - His name means "Who God Helps." His role is primarily to cross people over into Heaven when their physical life has ended here on earth. The "Angel of Death," Azrael aides in the comfort of the dying and helps them to accept the welcome they receive on the other side. Azrael is the Patron Angel of the Clergy.

Chamuel - whose name means "He who sees or seeks God." He is a powerful healer and a leader in the Angelic hierarchy. He protects you from fearful and lower energies. He helps you find unconditional love and strengthens relationships. He is the Patron Angel of Peace and Calmness.

Gabriel - whose name means "God is my strength." Gabriel helps those whose life purpose involves communication. Gabriel is the Patron Angel of all who work in the communications field, and postal workers.

Haniel - Her name means "Glory of God." She helps up to enjoy and accept more grace into our lives. Haniel is involved with the Moon energy, clairvoyance and grace. She is the Angel of Feminine Support.

Jeremiel - His name means "Mercy of God." He helps those newly crossed over souls to review their lives as well as helping the living to make positive changes in their lives. He is the Angel of Emotional Healing.

Jophiel - whose name means "Beauty of God." She helps us to add and attract beauty into our lives. She helps us to perceive, with thoughts, the beauty in our lives. She is the Angel of Beauty and Patron Angel of Artists.

Metatron - He is a fiery and energetic angel who has a special place in his heart for children. He is also one of only two archangels who had lived as a human man. While on Earth he was known as Enoch, a prophet and a scribe. The new Indigo and Crystal children are under his guidance. Metatron is known as the Patron Angel of Children.

Michael - "He who is like God." Michael's main function is to rid the Earth of fear. He is the leader of the Archangels. He is the Angel of protection, justice and strength. He is known as the Angel of Protection and Courage and the Patron Angel of Policemen.

Raguel - His name means "Friend of God." His primary role is in Heaven making sure that the Angels and Archangels are working together in harmony and according to the Divine Order. Raguel is considered The Relationship Angel.

Rafael - whose name means "God heals." Rafael is the healer of physical bodies for both humans and animals. He is the angel of love, joy and laughter. He helps to heal your mind, body and soul. He is known as the Healing Angel and Patron Angel of those in the medical field.

Raziel - His name means "Secret of God." He knows the secrets of the universe and how it operates. He helps you to know and feel Divine guidance. Raziel is the Patron Angel of Lawyers and law makers.

Sandalphon - means "brother" in Greek. He is the twin brother of the Archangel Metatron. He was, like Metatron, originally a mortal man. Sandalphon carries human prayers to God. He is the Patron Angel of Music.

Uriel - "God is light." He helps with natural disasters. He is an angel of nature, visions and the custodian of prophecy and spiritual understanding. Uriel is the Angel of Wisdom and The Patron Angel of Literature and Music.

Zadkiel - His name means "Righteousness of God." Zadkiel helps us to have mercy and compassion toward ourselves and others. He is the Angel of freedom and mercy and Patron Angel of all who forgive.

Well, I hope that you enjoyed learning a little bit about the Archangels. I enjoyed researching and writing about them. In the future I hope to go a little more "in-depth" about them. I find the facts fascinating and educational.

Cycle of Health - Mind, Body and Spirit

In the Western Medicine paradigm of technology and science the primary emphasis is on the physical body and how to treat disease. Thus, Western society has become a society of sickness and disease rather than wellness. Physical health is one-third the equation for wholeness and healthiness. Western Medicine over looks the other two - emotional and spiritual.

The cycle of wholeness and health seeks to attune the person's mind, body and spirit to the needs and messages of the body, as well as, to the natural means the body uses to maintain health. Similar to the balancing cycles in nature, such as the sun and rain nourishing crops, Ayurveda tradition observes the natural cycles of detoxification and rejuvenation that are ever present in the human physiology.

To maintain health, the body needs to rid itself of damaging and unwanted elements - [detoxification] and supply necessary nutrients [rejuvenation] in a balanced fashion. Through combining botanicals in a manner that promotes mild detoxification and cellular rejuvenation this promotes the natural cycle of body health. The result is the enjoyment of new levels of health and well-being in body, mind, and spirit.

By examining how an herb or fruit affects the physiology, Ayurveda establishes how different botanicals can affect the mind, [emotions], the subtle energies of the body, and ultimately the spirit. Ayurveda teaches that each area of health is interdependent.

To maintain health the mind [emotions] and spirit need to be nurtured and supported. The four most important rituals to create emotional and spiritual health is: Prayer, Meditation, Gratitude, Spending time in nature, including near fire and water.

Remember to be consciously aware of the role Spirit plays in your life. Spiritual health is created through being intimately connected to your spouse, partner, family, friends, and community, resulting in social health. Spiritual and social health, are interconnected. It is through your committed relationships that you will create the greatest opportunities for spiritual growth and for learning how to receive and impart unconditional love. Only love is real - all else is self-defeating.

Listen To Advice From Confucius

Deeper Spiritual Understanding - How Do I Acquire It?

A person who is a sincere Christian, a true believer from the depths of his/her heart, is a person who hungers and thirsts for righteousness (Matt. 5:6) desiring deeper spiritual understanding. There is always a desire to know more and understand better. There is an inner longing to draw nearer to God and feel closer to him and so the way is sought to do so.

But, the question is how do I do this, or accomplish this, which I so desire? If I just read the Bible more and pray more will that do the trick? It would be good if we could say yes that is all it will take but that would not be telling the truth. We suppose the scribes and the Pharisees of the New Testament era read their Bible (the Old Testament) and prayed and yet to what avail?

We are all familiar with the parable of the tax collector and the Pharisee beginning in Luke 18:9 who both went up to the temple to pray. Only one went down from it justified. Prayer was of no profit to the Pharisee.

We might also say with justification that the Pharisees seemed to know the Old Testament scriptures in the sense that they could tell you what they said. Their problem was one of understanding them and making proper application but that was a result of heart failure.

When you have developed your own religion as they had by the time of Jesus, an admixture of truth mixed in with man made traditions that had the affect of law even to the extent of overriding the law of God (Mark 7:6-13), the heart ceases to be interested in anything that will disturb it. People become satisfied with what they have right or wrong.

Hear the words of Jesus:

"That is why I use these parables, For they look, but they don't really see. They hear, but they don't really listen or understand. This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah that says, 'When you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend. For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes-so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.'" (Matt. 13:13-15 NLT)

But, do we not have the same problem today multiplied? If you say no how do you explain the hundreds of denominations in the world to say nothing of the Catholic Church, the Greek Orthodox Church, etc.? If we have a correct exegesis of scripture today, a proper understanding, how does one explain all of this? How can everyone differ and all be right?

I do not mean this to sound as hard as it probably will but as life goes on and one comes to understand that as an individual he cannot do a lot to change the way things are you reach the point, if you are like me, where you no longer care about group A, B, or C but rather about self. You become like the Philippian jailer in Acts 16 who said to Paul and Silas, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" (Acts 16:30 NKJV) Was he selfish in asking that question? Am I selfish in being concerned about self? Are you?

This does not mean we would not change group A, if it is in error, if we could but we lack that power. Salvation, in its end, is an individual matter. That is why I am not too awfully concerned about all the religious bodies out in the world. I am concerned about self and about individuals within my realm of influence.

We all need to keep in our minds that we are not going to be judged by what the group thinks or believes or practices. Judgment is an individual matter. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men." (2 Cor. 510-11 NKJV)

Jesus says he will judge us by his words. "He who rejects me, and does not receive my words, has that which judges him - the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day." (John 12:48 NKJV)

The key to a deeper understanding of God's will begins with the heart. One can read scripture 15 hours a day everyday but until the day comes that a man is willing to obey what he reads his reading will not draw him a fraction of an inch closer to God.

Thus we come to Mark 4:24-25, Jesus speaking, "And he said to them, 'Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be give. For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.'" (NKJV)

Heed what you hear. Are you going to use what you read from God's word, all of it for it is not a buffet where you get to pick and choose, or will it be you have no intention of acting on any commandment unless it suits what you think is fitting or proper?

The rejection of baptism is rampant in the religious world as is God's teaching on marriage, divorce, and remarriage, women in leadership positions in the church and we are heading to the point where God's teaching on homosexuality will down the road a ways no longer matter either the way things are looking now. Many, many other things could be added to such a list but the point is made. We like the Pharisees of Jesus' time have changed the law of God and said we are satisfied with what we have. We do not want to hear nor listen any longer.

We read the word and say we believe it but I do not think we are even kidding ourselves any more (I could be wrong). We are not going to obey it. We do not believe what it says although we know full well what it says. Like the Pharisees we will make our own religion and call it God's.

When our approach to the word of God is like that then Jesus' words where he says, "with the same measure you use, it will be measured to you" kicks in. Hearing God's word in scripture means you take it to heart and obey it. If you are not obeying you are not hearing God.

If one wants to draw nearer to God he will have to do more than just read and memorize scripture. He will have to obey it. Do you want a deeper spiritual understanding? If so you must obey. "With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be give." (Mark 4:24 NKJV) Are you willing to use what you hear? Only then (emphasis on this) will you be given more. Fail to do that and even what you have will be taken from you.

All of scripture teaches this same lesson. I am reminded of the words of Samuel as he spoke to Saul after Saul proclaimed that he had "performed the commandment of the Lord." (1 Sam. 15:13 NKJV) That commandment was to destroy utterly the Amalekites and all they had. Samuel says to him, "What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?" (1 Sam. 15:14 NKJV) What indeed?

Saul's answer was, "the people spared the best of the sheep and the oxen, to sacrifice to the Lord your God." (1 Sam. 15:15 NKJV)

To obey God means to obey him completely and not just partially or as it suits us and our way of thinking. People make God after their own image and thus if it seems the right thing to believe or do according to our way of thinking then it must please God necessarily. In fact, we feel God could not be just unless he saw it our way so we end up becoming our own Lord and God and we totally convince ourselves that what we are doing is God's will despite his word to the contrary.

The love for objective truth is lost (2 Thess. 2:10). Henceforth our truth will be subjective according to our desires. Yet, Paul says in 2 Thess. 2:12 that we shall be condemned for not believing the truth.

How could God object to sacrificing the best of the sheep and the oxen when it would be a sacrifice that was being made to him (the thought arises about the many innovations men have brought into Christian worship just because it seemed right to them)? But, hear Samuel's response.

"Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king." (1 Sam. 15:22-23 NKJV)

If we could only learn what Samuel taught here but I am not overly optimistic. Note the words "to heed" in the text. Samuel says to heed is better than the fat of rams. Jesus said in Mark 4:24, "heed what you hear." Saul did not heed God's word, nor did those with him. Will we do better?

James says, "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." (James 1:22 NKJV) What word? Saul obeyed "some words (1 Sam. 15:3)." He was a doer of some words. He had the buffet religion which we have today but will not admit to having. If we do not change our ways we will get to answer as to why to Jesus the way Saul got to answer to Samuel.

There is no hope of any man ever learning more who will not obey what he already knows. If he is at the end of his obedience he is also at the end of his growth in spiritual understanding. He can forget about any deeper spiritual understanding.

I close with this. Jesus says (Matt. 13:12 NLT), "To those who listen to my teaching (listen means heed, obey - DS), more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, (not heeding, not obeying - DS) even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them." This leads directly into the long passage quoted above from Matt. 13:13-15 where Jesus explained why he spoke in parables.

Deeper spiritual understanding is only for the obedient and thus it becomes a personal choice. If you want it you can have it. Do you want it? That is a question only you can answer.

Four Agreements

How to Get a Grip on Life

Foundational truth, guided by wisdom, is the only means by which an individual, and hence a society, will weather the inevitable storms of change. Unfortunately there is a strong movement in these times to sell the idea that truth is relative. We hear this stated oftentimes, in various ways, but few people ever stop to evaluate what that actually means. It might sound good, perhaps even intellectual. Acceding to such a philosophy makes us feel we are connected with the mainstream. Rarely do we hear opposing views to dissuade us. But, truth is NOT relative. Truth apart from wisdom is a dangerous thing. "Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers." (Alfred Lord Tennyson)

The very definition of truth (a transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality; Merriam-Webster) negates any idea that it can be relative. There are some areas where there is little disagreement on that. For example, does anyone believe that 2 + 2 does not equal 4? No, there will be no argument with that because it can be seen in concrete form, and there is no moral dilemma associated with it. Each person's fingerprints are unique. DNA is unique. The laws of thermodynamics are repeatable. In fact, the very essence of research into the physical worlds of health, science, physics, etc, is based on repeatable norms and baseline truths. Rather than dispute these basics the scientist/mathematician accepts them as foundational truth and builds from them.

Why, then, do we so quickly jump to the conclusion that truth applied to life can be relative in certain areas, e.g. morality and the realm of faith? Most, if not all historians agree that moral decline precipitated the fall of the Roman Empire. However, social commentators in the twentieth century have viewed the contemporary decline in morals within Western civilizations as proof we are evolving to a more enlightened state. If God is the Creator of everything (a foundational truth that man has denigrated over the past three hundred years) then every aspect of His axiomatic Self is foundational and fixed. "The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens." (Proverbs 3:19) There must, by definition, be foundational truths that are not variable over time and cultures and generations.

In Western civilization the student has become so full of himself/herself, that he/she questions the very foundations of the knowledge gained from the teacher. Our ego and associated pride create hindrances to accepting the truth of the ages and to realizing just how simple foundational truth can be. "The intelligent man who is proud of his intelligence is like the condemned man who is proud of his large cell." (Simone Weil) Perhaps we have so dissected the Word of God that it no longer bears resemblance to His authorship, and we then, arrogantly, say we have proven there to be error. The classic conundrum!

The drive to justify self-centered, amoral and immoral lifestyles is gaining so much momentum that any truth standing in the way must be disavowed and discredited. Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life." (John 14:6)

A genuine seeker of truth, regardless the venue, remains objective and open to evaluate whatever she finds. "But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul." (Deuteronomy 4:29, emphasis mine). This could be considered a challenge by Almighty God. It is one that a large number of people have accepted and have proven true.

Don't be afraid of truth. Don't allow closed minds to deprive you of an abundant life available through a relationship with the only living God. Seek Him through His word the Bible. His Spirit will be your guide.

Preparations For Winter Motorcycle Riding

When you ask about how you should go about Winter Motorcycle Riding, a lot of folks will instantly reply; "Park your bike in the garage and wait for spring!"

It's OK to be a fair weather biker... but just 'cause you don't have the desire to develop the skills and equipment to pursue winter motorcycle riding, don't let the air out of someone else's tires! Park your bike and wait for spring.

The rest of us, are gonna climb on, and split the wind!

The simple truth is; Winter Motorcycle Riding can be done safely and sanely... all it takes is a little thought, a few pieces of proper equipment, some common sense, and a conscious, deliberate, concentration on riding your motorcycle correctly.

First things first; Make sure your bike is in top mechanical condition... its bad enough to ride a scooter in the summer on worn out tires... Do that in the winter and you'll likely find yourself riding your butt on the asphalt.

Second; Outfit yourself for the weather. Dress in layers. You've heard it before and it's, simply, the only way. Multiple, light, insulated layers are far warmer, and more adjustable to conditions, than a single, heavy layer.

I ride, from the skin up, and depending on conditions, cotton underwear, insulated 'long-johns', regular street clothes, wool sweater, ski type, High bib overalls, insulated vest, winter jacket, insulated gauntlet type gloves, a fleece hood, a full face helmet, wool socks and thinsulate insulated, gore-tex lined boots.

This gear keeps my winter motorcycle riding warm down to 20 degrees and less... this winter the coldest I've rode, without any considerable distress has been 10 degrees. I'm talking a distance of twenty miles and more.

On a longer ride you're going to have to make more stops than you might in the summer, to warm up a bit, but you should still be able to rack up considerable, comfortable miles enjoying the shining times of winter motorcycle riding.

One of the critical requirements of your clothing is the outer shell. It has got to be tightly woven and wind proof. I've worn the heavy cotton Canvas Carhartt clothing, and quite simply, at something above 50 mph, the wind pressure starts leaking though, and you get cold. I've found the fine woven, nylon shelled, insulated coats and overalls vastly superior when it comes to turning the wind.

If you have the alternator to power the stuff, and dealing with all the wires and thermostats doesn't get in your way... or the price tag... you can cut the layers... and invest in heated clothing... but the fact is... not that many bikes have the alternator power to run 'em... and you end up pulling the needed juice out of your battery...

I've found, here in Colorado, I ran ride just fine, with a grin on my face... wrapped up in totally 'energy free' winter motorcycle riding gear!

Once your bike is prepped and ready... and once you are dressed... how do you handle the road?

One word... Carefully and deliberately... OK... I can't add real gud... but you get the idea.

First, folks driving those four wheeled contraptions are going to be startled to see a motorcycle rolling down the road when the thermometer is bangin' down toward one digit! So you have to be extra alert... They'll do even dumber things than usual.

Second, you've got to pay extra special attention to the pavement. Cold rubber just doesn't have the traction that it has in the summer. You've got to keep your speed down... and ride with precision. Save the hot doggin' for California Summers!

You don't necessarily have to wait until the roads are 100% totally clear... but if there's much ice or snow on it, you are well advised to wait until it clears a bit more. The manufacturers just haven't perfected snow tires or chains for motorcycles yet... unless you count those wild men up north who race their bikes on frozen lakes...

... but running down the highway with those lethal lookin' spikes in your tires is my idea of pushing a good idea too far!

What you do have to do is consciously pay close attention to the road. The sand is going to get kicked into the center of the lane, or off to either side. Where you need to ride is down the 'tire tracks' as much as you can, to stay out of the slippery sand, and other road debris.

Keep your speed down on the sweepers to make sure you stay in that track and not drift into the accumulated sand on the margins of your line.

If you're rollin' along and there, in the shade of a tree or a building, is a patch of ice or snow across the road... Don't Panic! Stay away from the brakes! Keep the throttle steady. Don't accelerate, don't coast and decelerate. Just keep a steady hand. Watch your weight. Don't lean one way or the other.

If you're in a corner, you pretty much have to stand it up straight, to cross the bad spot, and then, once you're back on dry pavement, get back into the turn.

My mantra is "soft hands". Just stay smooth as you cross that, usually small, slick spot. You'll come out, on the dry side, a wiser biker.

Pay attention to your condition as you ride, mental as well as physical. If you start getting too cold, it's time to pull in for a cup of coffee and a warm up. Too cold and your reaction time as well as your basic judgment starts to freeze up, and that's not the way to enjoy winter motorcycle riding.

If you make sure your bike is ready; make sure your motorcycle riding gear is up to snuff; and make sure your head is in the right place for Winter Motorcycle Riding; you too can enjoy the giggling you'll do inside your helmet, as you witness the startled looks you'll get from the folks coming the other way, in their cars, when they spot the crazy, fool, riding a motorcycle in the winter!

Back Pain, Cancer, EFT - Part 2

It is said that for every injury, accident, ailment problem etc that there is a reason. For instance, accidents. Accidents are no accident, we create them like everything else in our lives it's what we create. It's the law of attraction. We do not deliberately say 'we want an accident', however our mental thought patterns attract accidents to us.

Accidents are an expression of anger, and build up over a period of time of frustration with one feeling unable to speak up for ones self. What happens then is that we hold it in and the end result is that we manifest the 'illness' or injury or accident etc. With this example, the problem - the accident, the probable cause is just that, the 'Inability to speak up for ones self.

Rebellion against authority. Belief in violence. This is their belief thought pattern, the negative side. The new thought pattern the positive side, would be "I release the pattern in me that created this. I am at peace. I am worth while."

In her book "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise L. Hay, Louise goes into great detail and is worth the time to look into her book.

So if we go back a bit to Suzie with her cancer, what does that tell us? Well if you follow this belief that we create our future then the probable cause of cancer is a "Deep hurt. Long standing resentment. Perhaps with a Deep secret or grief eating away at the ones self. With carrying hatreds. 'What's the use?"

The positive side would be, I lovingly forgive and release all of the past. I choose to fill my world with joy. I love and approve of myself. This may seem like affirmations and it is, affirming who we are from the POSITIVE side. Remember we create our future. Although Suzie is yet to consider her options, there is no doubt that if necessary surgery will have its place.

As we are working on our mind, our thought process, our 'in talk' and our 'out talk' even on a sub conscious level, if we can become aware of what we are saying to our selves and to others then perhaps it might make a difference. Have you noticed how many negatives you use during the day?

There is no doubt that yoga can help you with back pain or any other ailment even it's just a simple breathing technique.

The Path - Full Attention

I was walking in the forest just after finishing a Meditation retreat when I came across the most perfect picture book scene. I froze in my tracks. I couldn't go forward, it would spoil. I couldn't go back because I was part of the picture. I was frozen.

It is experiences like this, whether you are a golfer or a meditator or leader of a business that reflect the profound beauty of putting your whole attention into something and this is often lost in our busy busy-ness lives.I see the mother playing with the baby, talking on the phone, drinking coffee and trying to get her own peace of mind and realise how hard it is these days to put our full attention into something.

I have a very athletic friend and he is considered an ADD person. But when we go out and do something physical, active and challenging he is in this zone of full attention too. Meditation is no the only way to find the inspiration of full attention.

The whole key is to practice between performances. Instead of suddenly wanting to give something your full attention try being mindful about your full attention to things and life as a habit. This is a good step forward and away from the lumpy old system of slump, think, attend, slump because it's in those slumps that a lot of devolution takes place. (troubles)

To put your full attention into life becomes a habit if you can become deliberate in the smaller things. Like eating slowly, taking kindly, being friendly, looking in people's eyes when you address them. It means washing your clothes to keep you and your clothes clean. It's about the kitchen and the floor as well as your computer, your office desk. Everything about your life becomes an affirmation of considered attention.

This is how you can really elevate your world. Full attention to reading the newspaper and making sure your emotions experience but don't cause permanent memories. This is the Path to putting your whole heart into life, and it has significant material success too.

People like to meet people who put their full attention to what they do. You'll be more interesting, a better communicator, a cleared sales person, a happier partner if you can practice full attention.

It's really a matter of patience. When there are twenty things pulling at your coat, it is wise to apologise to 19 of them, give one the attention they deserve and then go to the next. I find this with children but the most potent example is at a book signing. Here, people queue and when they get to the desk for a book signature they absolutely want full attention. It's so easy to brush them away so that the next person doesn't have to wait, but this guarantees they will stay longer. Instead, if people get full attention they feel satisfied in a short period of time, and easily move forward after the signing. It's a matter of respect for their presence.

Practice between performances. Give your food, your cat, your TV your full attention. A flower, a tree your full attention and then explore doing this with people. Start with inanimate objects. It is a skill. I teach this skill as a listening skill. Full attention means listening actively. Practice listening with your ears, your mind, your heart your hands. There are many ways to bring your full attention to listening.

Move a cup with the same awareness that you light a candle. Make each movement a conscious one.

Health Goals - Three Reasons People Fall Short and Affirmations to Stay on Track

There's nothing like a friend's health scare to get you back on track, is there? Or you read a story about someone "just like you" with a big problem you don't want. Or you get on the scale and cringe. However it comes about, there are moments when you just know it's time to get on track. And you will. Seriously. Very soon...

Really, you have great intentions. Now let's set you up to follow through! Check out these three reasons people sometimes fall short of their health goals, and then set yourself up for success with the positive affirmation statements.

  1. I'm too stressed out! Some people like stress. It keeps them engaged in life. Sometimes, though, thrill-seekers have trouble staying grounded enough to follow through with a long-term program. If you thrive on change, make sure to plan enough variety into your exercise and food programs to keep them interesting.Your affirmation: I thrive on healthy excitement. I balance activity with renewal.Other times, though, feeling stressed is a sign that your life is out of control. In other words, you're putting more emphasis on what you think other people want you to do and less on what you know to be true for yourself. Take a deep breath. Now take a firm stand for your own well-being. You'll feel so much better!Your affirmation: I am in control of my reaction to even the most challenging situations.
  2. I can't afford it. Perhaps you really don't have the money. Nearly everyone goes through occasional hard times, so don't panic. Simply begin taking corrective action to bring your finances under control. If you really cannot afford to make basic healthy choices on your own behalf, that is an unsustainable situation. Just bring yourself back to balance as soon as possible.Your affirmation: I appreciate the abundance of nature all around me, knowing that I am abundant, too.Or perhaps you actually do have the money, but prefer not to spend it on maintaining your health. Hmmm. After careful consideration, perhaps you will come to think differently.Your affirmation: I deserve the best that life has to offer.
  3. I'll have to keep it up. Yes, perhaps you will. But getting healthy doesn't have to be a big drag. Feeling good is way better than feeling icky. Focus on the most fun ways to stay in shape; find friends to be active with; try new healthy recipes until you find several that you really like.Your affirmation: I feel so great in my toned and healthy body!

Why not make a game of it? Set some healthy goals and see how much fun you can have bringing them to life! You'll feel great for two reasons. First, you'll have the healthy result. And second, you'll be so proud of yourself for making good on your promise. What could be better?

Searching For A Soul Mate

Three Trading Losses in a Row

Three losses in a row are tough. That's about the most consecutive losses that novice traders are psychologically prepared to accept before they feel compelled to take action and 'correct' the situation.

If you're anything but a total newbie, I'm sure you'll recognize the symptoms:

Frustration - Why me? I've worked so hard. Everyone else in the forum appears to be getting good results with this strategy? Nothing ever works out for me.

Anger - That strategy developer is a liar and a crook. My broker is running my stops. Someone should be held accountable for this.

Doubt - What if the strategy doesn't work? What if I can't trade? How am I going to support my family?

Fear - I can't lose more money, what will everyone say about me when they know I'm a loser? How can I tell my wife/husband that I've lost again?

And if that's not enough, the novice trader will likely be afflicted with the crippling inability to pull the trigger on the next trade, in fear of hitting a fourth loss in a row.

Usually, there is one of two responses:

1) The strategy is tweaked to ensure that the modified version would not have triggered these losing trades, through:
a) Swapping one indicator for another,
b) Optimising indicator parameters, or
c) Adding an additional filter.

or

2) Totally abandoning the strategy, usually followed by returning to their favourite forum to find the next Holy Grail strategy that is designed to make their dreams come true.

Is this the right response though?

Typically, trading decisions which are influenced by emotions rarely result in the right action.

So, what should be done?

First, before we continue, you need to confirm that you do have a valid, proven trading strategy. Have you conducted appropriate testing to satisfy yourself that it provides a positive expectancy? If not, stop trading it right now and return to testing. I don't care what reason you had for jumping straight into a live trading environment, but the fact is that it's difficult to psychologically trade a strategy in a consistent and disciplined manner when you don't have complete confidence in its rules. You need to conduct thorough testing.

But assuming you have a strategy that has proven itself through positive results either in a testing or live trading environment, simply refer to your testing results or past trading history, and you'll confirm that three losses in a row is a quite normal occurrence. In fact, it's quite normal to have a lot more than three in a row. And it does not mean that your strategy is flawed.

Let's look at this from a purely statistical perspective.

(a) Win% = 40%; Probability of seeing at least 3 consecutive losing trades within a 50-trade period = 100% (or so close that it may as well be 100%)

(b) Win% = 50%; Probability of seeing at least 3 consecutive losing trades within a 50-trade period = 99.8%

(c) Win% = 60%; Probability of seeing at least 3 consecutive losing trades within a 50-trade period = 95.8%

(d) Win% = 70%; Probability of seeing at least 3 consecutive losing trades within a 50-trade period = 73.1%

The data above shows that given a trading strategy with a 50% win/loss ratio, the probability that you'll get a string of three losses in a row somewhere within your next 50 trades is 99.8%.

Even if you're achieving a win/loss ratio of 70%, you've still got a 73.1% chance of having a string of three losses somewhere within your next 50 trades.

It's going to happen. It's a normal occurrence. Accept it.

So, based on this, what's a reasonable response from a trader following three losses in a row?

The first thing is to confirm all three trades were entered and managed in accordance with your plan. You should be doing this for every trade anyway, but if you're a very short term trader then perhaps you don't get an opportunity till after the session is over. If that's the case, and you've get three consecutive losses which appear to be worrying you, pause to review them now. If they're not valid trades, find out why you entered them, refocus on your plan and your goals and then continue trading. However, if they're valid trades, you might want to consider the following action:

1) If you're a mechanical trader, keep trading.

2) If you're a discretionary trader, check to see if each entry is actually at the same setup area. If so, you're possibly just not reading the market right at the moment. Consider halting your trading until the market action has changed and a new setup has developed.

3) If you still find yourself experiencing difficulty in pulling the trigger, get away from the markets for a while.

a) It's time to take a break - relax, refresh and recharge yourself.

b) Review your trading plan and your historical results (either live or testing).

c) Carry out some visualisation and affirmation sessions, to prepare yourself for pulling that trigger once your break is over.

d) Return to the markets with the goal of correct application of your plan - don't focus on the dollars won or lost, instead focus on the process of trading.

4) And if on returning you still find problems, well you've got some more serious issues that need to be worked through. I don't mean that in a bad way, but you need to take a longer break to seriously review both your trading plan and yourself:

a) Are you taking too much risk per position? Reducing your position size can often make an incredible difference in your ability to trade in a relaxed and confident manner.

b) Do you really understand and accept the probabilistic nature of the markets? I'd suspect not. Read "Trading in the Zone" by Mark Douglas for a brilliant insight into these issues.

c) Are you consumed by fear of loss whenever it comes time to enter a trade? What is it you fear exactly? Maybe it's time to delve into the world of trading psychology. "The Psychology of Trading" and "Enhancing Trader Performance" by Dr Brett Steenbarger would be my recommended starting point.

One final thing! If three losses in a row does not necessarily equate to a flawed strategy, then at what point should you stop trading and review your plan? Well, I don't base this on a particular number of losses in a row, but rather on a level of drawdown. Only you can determine what should be considered a normal level of drawdown, based on your historical performance. But certainly, if you equal the historical maximum drawdown for your strategy (if not sooner) then you should be reviewing your strategy to confirm it's based on sound fundamental principles that still apply to the current market environment. And at some stage of drawdown beyond this point, you need to have clearly defined STOP criteria. Don't bleed your account to death. Stop, take a break if necessary, reassess the situation, conduct further testing and return stronger than ever before.

Happy trading,

Guided Visualization - Discover Your Future Self

A client enters my office full of fear, self-doubt, and ambivalence about her present relationship. She has spent years vacillating between staying with her boyfriend and breaking up with him. She seems to have this inner knowing that she must move on but her fears keep her in the relationship.

Now she is beginning to have not only emotional issues but physical symptoms, as well. She states she is having panic attacks that are making her life unmanageable and unbearable. We explore whether or not these panic attacks could be a sign that she may not be living truthfully. We talk about the fact that this gut level pain may be an inner wisdom or knowing that it is truly time to make the move, face the fear, and to live more fully and authentically.

She decides to embark on a journey of Guided Visualization as a tool to get her where she wants to goa life of peace, serenity, and purpose. She decides to use it as a way to tap into her most inner truths that consciously she has not been able to experience.

Guided Visualization can also be called Guided Imagery or Guided Meditation. Often we get stuck believing that if we dont meditate perfectly we wont reach enlightenment or experience any type of moving spiritual experience.

There are many forms of meditating rituals, from chanting to breathing exercises. One can light candles and incense to meditating on prayer beads or in nature. All of these meditations can work with there not being one right way to meditate. We no longer need to take the journey to Tibet to practice Guided Imagery or mediation.

Guided Visualization is just one method of meditating. It can include all the senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, and feeling. Imagery describes the intertwining of sensory awareness with a perceptual experience.

When these two forces are combined, a total relaxation state of awareness becomes possible. This allows for insights to be realized and solutions to be resolved which might not have been possible in the conscious mind.
Guided visualizations can take many forms including using a script, buying a CD with someone elses calming voice to guide them through the meditation or hiring an instructor who specializes in guided visualizations. Often hypnotherapists, psychotherapists, or spiritual healers can help guide this process.

Another form of guided visualizations can be repeating positive affirmations that are statements designed to counteract negative thinking. In essence, it is a type of positive self-talk to help eliminate the negative messages and thoughts often we tell ourselves that are usually false and have no basis in reality.

A popular acronym used to describe this type of faulty thinking is FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real). In other words, most likely, our thoughts are just that, thoughts, and a story need not be attached to these thoughts.

Often individuals with eating disorders, substance abuse, anxiety, and other addictions struggle with these types of self-deprecating thinking. Positive affirmations allow them to replace these self-defeating thoughts.
For example, make a list of positive affirmations and say them out loud or post them on a sticky note pad and place them throughout the house or wherever they will get noticed often. Transforming these negative thoughts is a powerful tool for change.

Examples of positive affirmations to combat anxious, obsessive, or fearful thoughts might look like this: I am learning to consciously and mindfully choose what I think and I chose thoughts that are supportive and beneficial to me.

Another affirmation might be I am learning to let go of fears or I will deal with this one day at a time and I do not need to get attached to this story I have created. Other affirmations might be intuitive or have a spiritual dimension such as I can provide a space and holding place in my mind that transcends fear to a place of faith and fulfillment or No matter what has happened in the past, I can surrender to a spirit that is providing with me renewal and healing for my highest good. Or, I am grateful to all the experiences in my life that have shaped me to be the person I am today.

Believing in these affirmations is sacred, personal and divine and anyone is capable of creating their own positive affirmations to meet the needs of their own personal journey. The woman with the panic attacks might create an affirmation such as Each day I am gaining more confidence in myself and I can handle any situation or decision that comes my way. Perhaps this affirmation can help her see that she is capable of making powerful changes in her life; even ones that are painful, such as letting go of a relationship that is no longer working.

All of these tools such as guided visualization, guided meditation, and positive affirmations allow anyone to tap into their own powerful mind. These experiences are the ultimate connection between mind, body, and spirit. It is a perfect example of how positive self-talk works or what some New Age individuals might call the Law of Attraction. The more energy concentrated on a particular thought such as fear, the more that thought will draw circumstances where fear is present. If we expend more energy on positive thoughts, most likely we will draw into our lives outcomes that are more positive.

Guided Visualization has become a mainstream phenomenon. It has been used in schools, hospitals, government settings and in the corporate world.

Guided Visualizations has been known to not only reduce stress, but can also boost the immune system, treat mental health, substance abuse and medical problems such as lowering blood pressure and stress hormones in the blood, reduce severe symptoms of pain, insomnia, or help someone cope with a life threatening illness. Although the illness may be permanent, Guided Visualizations can help change the attitude from suffering to one of peace and serenity to help eliminate the struggle.

Guided Visualizations can also be used to make major lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking or losing weight. It can be the antidote to promote wellness and optimize overall health. It can be utilized to improve ones success at a job, reduce phobias such as fear of flying, driving freeways or public speaking. In fact, this author used a guided visualization to get over the anxiety and stress of taking a licensing exam and it worked!

Guided visualizations can take us on a mysterious journey to where we want to go or to where we dare to dream. We can discover what our real purpose is and what we have come here to do.

By letting go and surrendering to such a profound level of deep relaxation, all of our inner wisdom and inner knowing can surface up so that we may be able to live the life we have never thought possible. However, Guided Visualizations is only the first step. We must also take the action and do the footwork focusing on achieving what it is we long for.

The following are some simple strategies to follow when practicing a Guided Visualization.
1. Set your goal.

2. Breathe.

3. Be present and show up fully.

4. Establish intention and energy as to what you desire.

5. Practice. Practice. Practice.

As one anonymous writer once said, Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Chose your words for they become actions, for they become habits. Study your habits, for they become your character. Develop your character, for it becomes your destiny.

Mechanic's Lien Source Book - Can You Include Damages in Your Mechanic's Lien Claim?

A mechanic's lien is a powerful device to enforce payment on a construction project. But is there a limit to the amount you can claim? What about damages for breach of contract?

I am not aware of any state which would allow direct or consequential damages to be inserted into a mechanic's lien. The reason is that such claims are strictly limited to the labor, materials, and equipment conferred to the project which results in some form of permanent improvement. Your damages, over and above the amount owed on the contract and change orders, would be outside this scope.

Here are some examples of damages which could not be included:

Loss of profits on other jobs. As a result of not being paid $10,000, you were unable to use that money to advance labor and materials for another large job you were just awarded. You had to turn that job down and lost a profit.

Lack of productivity. Assume there have been so many changes and miscommunications on the job, that you had to start, stop, mobilize, demobilize, expand, shrink, fabricate, re-fabricate, and change your work force and productivity. You have lost countless hours and had to pay your employees out of pocket. This is normally not included in the mechanic's lien.

Delay damages. You have been delayed in the start of the project as well as during the course of construction.

Extended overhead. The architect has made so many changes to that you have been on the job much longer than expected and have had to carry a substantial overhead.

It is important to remember that although these items may not be included in your lien, you can include them in a lawsuit or arbitration for breach of contract and consequential damages against the person you have your contract with.

The Revelation of the Secret of Happiness - Short Inspirational Story

While meditating, I wanted to know who was happiest on earth and I had the vision of traveling to different places and for some reason, I found myself at a mansion, a house of many rooms; this house did not lack anything but had everything modern and in abundance. Then, I could feel the hearts of the persons, the owner of the house wanted more wealth and I could see that he was hardly home, he traveled a lot, looking for something more and his mind was busy in reaching fame and fortune. I could also see that the lady of the house, enjoyed of gatherings and her main worry was not about the reunions but about the clothes that she would wear and how the others would see her. She needed to show her power and control.

I also saw the heart of the children, they hardly knew their parents, they were addicted to buying and using new things and then, they would feel very bored and they were jealous among themselves.

I left the house while thinking that it was good that they were successful but there was something about them that did not seem that good since they were always unsatisfied, looking for something more and they were never happy.
Then, I went to the other side of the city and found myself in something that was almost like a house, it seemed very poor and there was a family inside, they were together and were eating; and the father was saying:

"Let's give thanks to God for our health, for been together, sharing this food."

I saw that their food was simple, there was no abundance, only what was needed. I could also see the hearts of the members of the family, where a light was shining. And I asked the light: "Who are you? I can see that this family has peace and unity." And the light answered:

" They also have joy and faith."

"How is that possible?" I asked. And the light said:

"You will not be able to see their wealth with your eyes, but you will feel it and you will understand the wealth in them because they accept themselves, they make the effort and with natural humility, they value and feel grateful for what they have, then, they have more than wealth, they have the revelation of the secret of Happiness."

And I kept listening in my heart:

"To accept, to appreciate, to be grateful"

Then, I understood, who was happiest on earth.
