"What was the apostles' teaching?" There's a good question. Thanks for asking.
If the Church of Jesus Christ held to the apostles' teaching then we'd better know exactly what was taught, and stick to that without wavering or compromise.
These believers could not live on one wonderful experience. Neither can we.
An experience of the living Jesus, and that anointing of the Holy Spirit is essential - but that is only the beginning. A solid foundation, having been laid, has to be built upon.
For faith to be strong we need a thorough understanding of the Word of God - all of it - the whole of it - from Genesis to Revelation.
Jesus taught His disciples as much as they were able to receive. Men of God like Peter and Paul spent hours teaching people so that their faith would mature and that their lives would matter.
Make your life count for God.
Speak and live and witness in such a way that people will be influenced - not just for good - but for God.
Just as an infant requires nourishing milk, we need teaching. Now, milk is all right for the first year or so - but if that child is still on milk some ten years later there is something seriously wrong. Teaching from the Word of God - not only encourages growth and maturity - but can exercise a restraining influence too - keeping you away from bad things.
As we open ourselves to the Bible we are moulded, shaped and fashioned by God. If you made a jelly and simply poured it onto a table it would run all over the place. God provides a mould, because He wants us to be in good shape.
What kind of shape are you in spiritually, mentally and emotionally?
